Injuries From Motorcycle Accidents

Even if you don’t think about it every day, everyone knows that motorcycle crashes can be dangerous. In fact, a motorcyclist is much likelier to be injured in an accident with a larger vehicle than the driver of the other vehicle. This is because a motorcyclist is fully exposed, whereas the other driver is protected with a kind of metal shield in the framing of the vehicle. Motorcycle accidents can result in terrible injuries to individual motorcyclists, ranging in severity from minor to life-threatening. Many of these accidents are caused by dangerous drivers who disregard the rights of motorcyclists.

Common Injuries

There are many different possible injuries that a motorcyclist might face in an accident with another vehicle. Some of these might be minor and easily treatable, while others are more debilitating and may require extensive medical attention. Such injuries can range from:

  • Lacerations
  • Bruising
  • Road rash
  • Burn injuries
  • Head / brain trauma
  • Spinal cord / back injury
  • Blood loss / loss of consciousness
  • Broken bones / fractures

All of these injuries could affect a motorcyclists who is hit by another driver, and depending on their severity, the motorcyclist could be facing a lot of medical bills and other costs. Many people cannot afford all of these costs, though the medical attention is necessary to fully recover. But sometimes the victims of a motorcycle crash who were not in the wrong can win financial compensation from the driver who caused their accident in the first place.
